Grizzly Entertainment performed a custom drone show at the Mahalepi Festival in Amiantos, bringing a new visual element to one of Cyprus’s celebrations of local food, culture and community.

The performance took place above the mountain village as festival visitors gathered for an evening centred on Cypriot tradition. Illuminated drones created coordinated formations in the night sky, giving the audience a shared moment that could be viewed from across the festival grounds.

The show also incorporated the festival’s main sponsor, Clock Café. As the company was celebrating its 10-year anniversary, Grizzly created custom formations for the end of the show that recognised the milestone and brought the sponsor’s identity into the finale.

A Festival Rooted in Cypriot Tradition

The Mahalepi Festival celebrates mahalepi, a traditional chilled Cypriot dessert closely associated with the island’s summer season. Hosted in Amiantos, the festival brings together food, music, cultural activities and visitors from different parts of Cyprus.

Amiantos provided a distinctive setting for the drone show. Rather than taking place at a stadium or urban venue, the performance was presented above a mountain village surrounded by the Troodos landscape.

The setting influenced how the production was planned. The formations needed to remain clear from the main viewing areas while fitting naturally into the festival programme and the character of the location.
